Doctors Appointment & A Shower

I had my 31 week appointment last week and met the only male doctor in the practice, Dr. Brough, for the first time. I have always been weary about male OBGYN's, but he was so nice and personable that I know I will feel completely comfortable if he ends up being the one to deliver our precious baby.

I have been getting a lot of comments lately about my size (I surely don't feel small!) but I was reassured by Dr. Brough that I am measuring right on schedule. I also received the news that Grayer is already head down (yay!) and that he will most likely stay that way, so that was a blessing. At least it doesn't look like we will have to worry about him being breech. I start going to see the doctor every two weeks now, but unless something out of the ordinary happens, there will not be anymore sonograms. Kind of sad about that because I would love to get to see him again, but glad that this pregnancy has gone so smoothly that they haven't been necessary.

I had my first baby shower last weekend and it was so much fun! Kathy and Krystal did a fabulous job and everything was perfect! We got some wonderful gifts and I have had fun putting away all the cute outfits and day dreaming about what he will look like in them all! :) I have been putting the finishing touches on the nursery this week and am looking forward to showing it to everyone on Saturday.
I am also looking forward to Brittany taking my maternity pictures this weekend! I've decided to take them in downtown McKinney and can't wait to see how they turn out. I am just hoping that we don't all sweat to death in this August heat...

And a little update on you sweet baby...

Grayer, at 32 weeks you are getting so big! You get the hiccups at least twice a day, kick me constantly, and I am convinced you are trying to come out of my belly button! You always seem to be pawing at it and I am hoping that means that you are ready for life in the real world and will come at least a few days early :) Your daddy and I love you so much and we can't wait to see your precious face!

And here are a few pictures...

Updates

I have not done well making updates to my blog, but as Grayer's due date quickly approaches, I will try to write more often!

Here is what has been happening the last few weeks:

At my 21 week appointment I received another sonogram so they could see his nose and mouth, which they were not able to see it at the 18 week appointment sonogram. The sonographer took a quick 3D shot of him and here is what we saw:

You can see his cute little ear, nose and hand. I know as parents we are bias, but even the nurse looked at his picture and said he was going to be a really cute baby :) Chrissa and I both think he looks like Elle in this picture, so we will see if he comes out looking like his cousin!

25 week appointment- took the glucose test to see if I have gestational diabetes, and luckily I do not! Grayer is approximately 2 pounds and his heart beat continues to sound perfect. When Dr. Remedios lifted my shirt to listen to the heart, she commented on how it looks like he prefers the right side of my tummy, and he definitely does :)

I talked to Dr. Remedios about the possibility of me requiring a c-section based on family history, and left the appointment a little disappointed because I do think there is a chance that I will end up needing one. She said around 36 weeks they will start to look at the size and position of the baby as well as my bone structure, so we will know more then. We are hoping that I don't need one, but know that it is largely out of my control and just want a healthy baby, so we will do whatever is needed.

28 week appointment- I have started going to the doctor every 3 weeks now, and will start going every 2 weeks around 34 weeks and every week after 36 weeks. She listened to his heart beat and measured my stomach and said that everything looked great. The last few appointments have been somewhat uneventful, but I am definitely not complaining!

I am currently 31 weeks and have another doctors appointment on Wednesday. There are 4 doctors in the practice that I go to, and thus far I have only met two out of the four doctors, my doctor, Dr. Remedios and my previous O.B., Dr. Blewett. My appointment this week will be with Dr. Brough, so I am looking forward to meeting him, just in case he is the one to delivery Grayer.

I am feeling a little more tired than I did in the first and second trimesters and some mornings it is all but impossible to get out of bed for work. I know this is only a small preview of how exhausted I will be when I am waking up every 2-3 hours to feed, but am still anxious for him to be here. I get swollen in my legs and feet pretty easily and try to lay down as much as possible when I am home. No stretch marks yet, but I still have 9 weeks left, and know they are probably unavoidable!

Grayer gets the hiccups often and moves around constantly! He does prefer the right side of my tummy, but soon he will run out of room and will just have to be content fitting in there! He is now approximately 3.5 pounds and around 18 inches long from head to heal. He will continue to plump up over the next weeks, but probably won't get too much longer.

We have been working hard on his nursery and are pretty much done, except for a few small details. I will post pictures when it is complete. We decided to do a beachy/surf theme and think it turned out pretty cute! Now all we are missing is baby :)

I have baby showers coming up soon and am so excited! The first of four showers starts next weekend and I feel so blessed to have so many amazing women in my life who are going above and beyond to put on these showers. I love you all!

That is all for now, but I promise to update more often and will post more pictures soon!

It's a Boy!

We had our 18 week appointment on April 23rd. We had been patiently (maybe not) waiting to find out the gender of our little one and the time had finally arrived. Much to our family's chagrin we decided not to find out the sex while in the doctor’s office, but to wanted to make it a little more memorable. Justin made us dinner reservations at a steak house by our house. We asked the sonographer to write down the gender in a card and after ordering we opened the card together and found out that we were having a sweet little baby BOY!! Unfortunately, he was a little camera shy, so we were not able to get any good pictures of him. Hopefully we will get some better pictures at our 28 week appointment.

On the way to dinner to find out the news!

We had such a great time at dinner the next night as well being able to share the special news with our families. We love you all so much and appreciate you all making the night so fun!

Dear Diary

As I sit here starring at a big, blank, white screen, I must admit that I am somewhat petrified of the blog world, and I am not sure I have what it takes to be a blogger. I was never one to keep a diary of childhood secrets, and am not sure I should start now! However I've come to realize that my memory isn't what it used to be. And because of this lack of memory control, I want to make sure that I have a way to remember every moment of this already extrordinary journey, and so it begins.

On Thursday, January 14th, Justin and I found out that we were expecting! I had been eagerly awaiting this day, and laid awake for two hours before the alarm went off wondering "am I, or am I not?" The test came back positive, and Hogan got to help tell Justin the good news!

We've had several doctors appointments since finding out we were pregnant, and they have all held good news. Our due date is September 27th, 2010. Below is the sweet picture we got at our 12 week appointment. We are already so in love with this little one!

We love you sweet baby! :)
